FRIDAY: This will be a "jazz band" day, and we will work on "Sunshine Song"- which we began working on last week. We will mainly work on the center section, which is the improv section. I will then pass out a new jazz tune called "Snape Eyes" for us to begin sightreading.

WEEK OF 8-30-10 TO 9-3-10
This week we will concentrate on our half time marching band music. Though we will warm up on the pre-game music, the majority of the class time will be spent on the students becoming more familiar with "Greased Lightning". We will work not only on correct notes, rhythms and volume level, but will also work on horn positions and playing together as a team. We will remain inside for two of the three days, hopefully Tuesday and Thursday, and then use Friday as an outside practice to put everything together. At the end of the class, I will take all drum equipment and large instruments back to Manning in the van in preparation for Friday night's football game. Students will need to be over in Manning shortly after 6:00 p.m. in order to get their uniforms, eat supper, and warm up with the High School members before heading for the field.
